Just wanted to share with you all that if I get visa tomorrow I'll be gone for about 3 months or so. I've never been out of Slovakia for that long. How nice... or not. We'll see. Not that I'm freaking out about it. I'm not. I'm just wondering what will it feel like. I'll make sure to let you know. I think it's going to be fun. I wonder if I'll have a culture shock. Can anything really shock me after a couple years of working with Americans and living with an American family? People say that the size of everything is going to be overwhelming. Can't wait to see and taste that :) Loudness is another thing that people mention. Oh my, I'll totally blog about things that shock me... if I get the visa tomorrow of course. Hey, how about y'all suggest things that might be shoking and I'll make sure to pay attention to them? OK, deal!

The smoothness of roads, the size of parking spaces, and the size of cars!
At least, those were the things I noticed as soon as we left the airport after arriving.

Hmmm unlimited soda refils? hehe. Since you're mostly gonna be down south I'd assume it might be weird to get used to so many strangers striking up conversations with you, especially after they hear your accent. Also might be strange to see so many "minorities" of different color. I wasn't in SK long enough to get a good idea of culture shock from the other side though...

Some visitors to the US are shocked by the sight of grizzly bears rummaging through their trash cans. Others have been troubled by the metal detectors and "personal" searches when they go to Wal-Mart. And some central Europeans have even fainted at the sight of all that ice in the drinks at restaurants. But, since you've been living with us Americans for several months, I think you will do just fine.

Congrats, sister!
