Fun/Interesting Fact (The Effect of Osmosis on Your Skin)

You know how your hands and feet get all wrinkled after a long, soaking shower or the swimming pool? Here's why:

"Your body contains water, of course, but it also contains solutes, so the water in your body is less concentrated than the water of your shower or the pool-(pure freshwater has the highest concentration of water possible). Water diffuses from a region of high concentration - that is your shower or pool - to a region of lower concentration, such as your body. The "shriveled" look of your fingers and toes actually results from being waterlogged. The extra water entering the outer layers of your skin causes them to swell in some places but not others, causing wrinkles."

I hope you aren't planning to stay in the shower long enough to shrivel up.
